Question: There are two different dates to start Ramadan but I do not know which one to go with. Can you please help?
According to the calculations and observations, Ramadan Crescent formed on the 8th of July this year. That makes the 9th of July, first day of Ramadan. Please see:

Discussions arise from some of our brothers’ insistence on sighting the Ramadan crescent with naked eye. It is obvious to occur discussions if everybody insists on sighting the moon with his own eye.
That’s why Allah the Almighty says:
“The sun and the moon follow a reckoning” (55:5)
Hence Muslims should follow the calculations about the beginnings and endings of lunar months.
