Question: I live abroad. There is a Turkish school here. I’m sending my child to this school since last year. We pay more than 3000$ per year to this school. Now they collect Fitra and Zakat for the school, saying that they will use it for the children. I hesitate if I can give Zakat or Fitra to a fee-paying school?
You can give your Zakat directly to one of the students that has financial difficulties, instead of giving it to the school itself. You can give it to the school only if they collect this money for those kinds of students. You cannot give it for the school’s needs. Because the school can provide with its needs by means of the fees they collect from you.
