Question: Does taking injections or drips break the fast?
Turkish High Committee of Religious Affairs has the following opinion about injections and drips, which we also agree with:
“The injection may or may not break the fast depending on its purpose. Injections serve as painkillers, as part of treatment, to increase the body strength, or to nourish. Injections that do not contain nutritive and that do not contain pleasure-inducing medication do not break the fast. However, injections that contain vitamins, nutritive, or pleasure-inducing chemicals break the fast.
Drips and blood transfusion are also categorized similarly.”
