Question: It is a necessity to have anaesthesia for having teeth out. This materializes through a anaesthetic substance injected into gum (gingiva). The inheritance of any substance into the body through injection is a break up of someone’s fast. Since it is not possible to take it out without anaesthesia, could you clarify in what circumstance taking teeth out does not harm fasting?
According to Qur’an, the reasons that lead to break up of someone’s fast has been counted as; eating, drinking and intercourse. Injecting medicine into the body is not one of these reasons. Therefore it does not form a reason for the break up of someone’s fast.
