Question: Nowadays, gaming tournaments are held in Internet cafes. Participating teams place a bet (a certain amount of money) and winning teams take all of this money. In some cases the owner of internet café could pay this amount from their account as a reward. If this is unlawful, is it unlawful to win money from other sport competitions, too?
If the participants place a bet (money or any other goods) and the winner takes it at the end of the game, it is regarded as gambling. All these kinds of games or actions are therefore assumed unlawful but if a third person determines an award (money or any other goods) and gives it to the winner, then it would be lawful.
In sports competitions, earned money is paid by the spectators. So it is lawful for the teams to take all or part of it.
