Question: İs it forbidden by İslam to use a wedding ring? İ heard this is a custom that was trasmitted from Christianity, for that reason it is forbidden by İslam, even it is Bid’at. İs that right?
The wedding ring is a sign that shows that the person is married. All the societies applies different rules to demonstrate the statue of the engagement or the marriage of the persons, in conform with their customs. Wedding ring is one of them and there is no any religious handicap according with this issue. İt’s impossible to consider the ring as Bid’at, because an event can be considered as Bid’at only if it is related with belief or religious acts and if it establish a new rule in the field of the worship. The ring can not be one of them.
