What should one do if he had to take medicine while fasting?

Question: What needs to be done if someone suffers extreme toothache and swallows a painkiller while fasting?

Things that are taken through mouth and nose like pills, syrups, nose drops break the fast. But the person won’t be sinful about this as he is considered ill. Because ill people has the permission of delaying their fasts, he/she needs to fast one day after Ramadan in order to fulfill the number of days. (See: Al-Baqarah/ The Cow 2:185)
